our Tale tail
It’s nothing complicated — Crack Fox is just how i like to feed my family. No nasties, nothing suss. ingredients from the garden or grown locally. made with love.
G’day I’m Chloe and I’m a creative at heart. I’m a mum, writer, wholefood chef and self-taught chilli farmer — obsessed with food, animals and having my fingers in the dirt.
Crack Fox sure ain’t your typical hot sauce, and that’s the WHOLE point! We are female founded, mother-centred and family run. There’s lots of pink. And zero references to skulls or shitting yourself. That’s because we believe chilli is a true joy and something to be celebrated. A flavour in it’s own right, tropical, fruity, floral, tangy and when fermented: the most beautiful kind of zingy! A powerhouse of vitamins and antioxidants and when used in the correct amounts: full of feel goods for body and mind.
I began Crack Fox out of a yearning for an organic, clean and green hot sauce that hits the spot without costing the planet. Enraged with chillies ending up in the “Dirty Dozen” year after year due to the high levels of pesticide residues thanks to commercial farming practices sadly being the norm for these spice-morsels — I began my own organic chilli farm. The Crack Fox Farm. On our bush block here in Iluka, Yaegl Country, northern New South Wales.
It is here, under the gumtrees, in amongst my animals and kids, picking flowers, collecting eggs, munching on tomatillos and squeezing pearls out of the finger limes — these recipes have been dreamt up in the sunshine; where we source many of our gorgeous ingredients from.
Crack Fox is a gift for tickled taste buds, healthy bodies, and a happier earth from a mum who believes finding a tax deductible reason for so many feathered friends may just be the pinnacle of life’s success.
Thanks for stopping by, it’s great to have you here x

why organic?
does organic really matter when it comes to hot sauce?
Organic reapers for our Ooray Plum Bubblegum hot sauce
Popular belief: pesticides are just washed or cooked off.
Most pesticides are complex molecules designed to be stable. Cooking generally will not break them down completely. Nor will simply just “washing it off”.
Chillies are notorious for being sprayed heavily with pesticides. Especially here in eastern Australia where Queensland fruit fly is a big problem for soft fruits and nightshades, causing catastrophic damage to orchads and summer perrenials like chillies.
Year after year chillies find themselves on the “Dirty Dozen” list - in the top 12 for the highest levels of chemical pesticide and herbicide residues found on all produce. So chances are even if a hot sauce is small batch, all natural, made in Australia and whispers wholesome nothings in your ear — if aint organic, it still likely contains pesticides.
We at Crack Fox could just not accept this of our most beloved condiment— it deserves better! So we went about handcrafting a “unicorn” for the hot sauce world. Even if it meant farming chilllies the way they should our damn selves.
